Sometimes, it is the smallest things that make us stop for a moment.

A ray of sunlight filtering through the leaves. A flower appearing somewhere unexpectedly. A butterfly fluttering past. Or a tiny mouse standing on its hind legs, curiously looking at the world around it.

Muisje – Verwondering is all about that feeling: seeing something as if you were discovering it for the very first time. Staying curious, noticing the little things and, for just a moment, forgetting how busy the world around us can be.

For this drawing, I deliberately chose a little mouse. Such a tiny creature can easily go unnoticed, yet when you truly take the time to look, there is so much beauty and charm to discover. With its tiny paws, bright eyes and curious pose, this little mouse seems completely fascinated by everything around it.

And perhaps there is something we can learn from him.

As we grow older, so many things begin to feel ordinary. We become used to the world around us and sometimes forget just how much there still is to discover.

That is why I gave this little mouse the word “Verwondering” – Wonder.

A drawing for someone who looks at life with curiosity. For someone who loves nature, animals and all those small moments that can make an ordinary day feel special. But it can also be a gentle reminder for yourself:

Keep looking. Keep discovering. Never lose your sense of wonder.

The drawing was created entirely by hand using pastel pencils and soft pastels. Its soft, dreamy background and fresh natural colours give the artwork a warm and gentle atmosphere.

Like every Art Wish, Muisje – Verwondering is a one-of-a-kind original. It is not a print or reproduction, but an original drawing made by hand with love, time and attention.

A little note about the language

Please note that this is the Dutch edition of the artwork. The words “Muisje – Verwondering” are handwritten on the original drawing and mean “Mouse – Wonder” in English. The Dutch lettering is part of the original artwork and therefore remains exactly as it was drawn.
